Sop recently i was fired from my long term job of four years. Curiously I have had the guts to stay in food services for about four years at a small store in the mall called Auntie Anne's. I worked my butt off for my employers including having dinner at their house a few times because she told me, "you are like a second daughter to me Julie. We love you!" I found out yesterday that wasn't really true. I walked into me day at work normally, however, I was running a little late because a meeting with my adviser had run late that afternoon. So about three minutes late and two steps before the changing room door, She calls me into the office before I can clock in or look at the schedule to see that my name was crossed out on the next two schedules. She sat me down in the office and started with the normal, "whenever we come in, in the morning, the store is always clean, the money and the paper work is always done right, the employees are happy." blah blah blah blah. And then it started. She blamed me for when one of our employees quit, she blamed me for the unhappiness of the entire store. She claimed that I yelled at someone about a check, got into a fight with another employee, and just in general made everyone VERY unhappy. She said that the store ran better over the summer when i wasn't there and when I came back from an internship at Duke, that i seemed like a completely different person and that I was burnt out on the store. they said that they had tried their best with me and that my attitude was completely out of line. I tried to defend myself but she would not listen to me. In reality what had happened, is that I had gotten into it with one of the employees because she had nagged on me about never doing any work when i pick up for her slack ALL THE TIME. The bosses had been on vacation and the girl had gotten to them before I did and she had told them all kids of extraordinary lies about me. In reality it wasn't just me that was out of line, but she was as well. And on top of thing I had apologized top her a couple times even though I didn't think it was my fault. We had recently gotten a new manager from the next door store Marble Slab and she had only worked there for a month or so. She had brought most of her crew from Marble slab with her and our two crews didn't mix well because the work ethic was completely different. Marble slab crew wanted to screw off at work and ours didn't. So whenever I was a shift leader for the evening, I wouldn't put up with the laziness and made them work. In return they didn't like me because I was the hard ass and supposedly intimidated them. the other shift leaders were lazy too so nothing ever got done when they were on duty. So they complained to the new manager and she complained to my boss leaving me with the stigma that working hard and trying to run the story the way that the owners want it to be run is not the way to go. you are supposed to be lazy and have no opinion and apparently it will pay off. So unfairly, and unjustly they have slowly dwindled their crew down to all white people. Fancie that eh?
